Chairperson
Provide vision to each member of the ECC by supporting the established vision of MAASU. Coordinate with the host school for the Spring Conference Venture into new and unexplored projects that will provide stability in MAASU's future or financial future. Represent MAASU at as many other regional conferences as possible, while maintaining an image control by establishing ECC priorities and keeping ECC on focus and balanced.
Public Relations
Be the right-hand man of the chair and provide any alleviation possible (the latter end of the year always s proves to be hectic) Produce press releases, press packets, and marketing packages for all major events, including the conferences and other events MAASU is sponsoring. Provide all these materials or public relations assistance to member schools that need help. Focus on presentation & packaging. Internally, work closely with the tech net and advocacy chair, as well as be the resource for Communications and Development & Outreach.
Programming
Contribute to the programming of any and all MAASU events. At all times, update Chairperson regarding all programming decisions and report status to ECC and Director(s) on a regular basis. Oversee all host school activities and provide logical decisions and reports to the Chair weekly. Be a resource for host schools and point person for the Spring Conference. Ensure content in line with MAASU's vision/mission. Venture into new programs (i.e. scholarships, tours, etc.).
Communications (2)
Together, establish relations with M-reps and be a liaison to M-reps at events. Promote activities and interaction among M-reps as it will be crucial for the latter part of the year. Prior to the Spring Conference, organize and hold at least two M-Rep meetings prior to the SC. Maintain/expand database of contacts and obtain feedback. Distribute info on a timely basis. Work with Development and Outreach to recruit through existing M-reps and establish communications with new schools.
Membership Outreach (2)
Institute intangible and tangible benefits of MAASU. Contact a minimum of 20 new schools to send information or speak with regarding the benefits of becoming a member school. Establish relations with new schools. Research history of involvement of member and potential schools. Invite prospects to scheduled M-Rep meetings. Work with Communications to provide or projects with possible new member schools. (Events are great recruitment tools; plan one recruiting event with communications programming and PR and one event before the Spring Conference for all member schools to participate.) Internally, work closely work closely with Communications & PR in M-Rep development, while collaborate with Programming in new areas of programming.
Advocacy
Keep abreast of issues and organize mobilization on advocacy and education. Responsible for educating and updating MAASU-land of current issues that may affect students across the regions. Collect and provide information on issues to Communications and PR to supply newsletter content. Look at other models of advocacy organizations. Search for opportunities to develop coalitions with other minority groups.
Secretary
Document any and all MAASU events including meetings of M-Reps and ECC with any other group and general assemblies, and assisting with the maintenance of records and files. Serve as a historian by maintaining/updating documentation such as SC photo album of MAASU history, video history, MAASU ECC family tree of history. Provide a time line with detailed events in the history of MAASU. Work with Tech Net and PR for website maintenance and newsletter.
Technical Networking
Maintain website, update on a regular basis, and assist archive documents online. Work with Fund raising chair and Director(s) on sales of ad space on our website. Create MAASU listserv and chat rooms. Work with host school representative on on-line registration for the Spring Conference. Upgrade MAASU computer and identify how to use tech in complementing programming goals.
